My little ones and I recently checked out Justin Park in Lexington for the first time. It’s a great little spot tucked in a corner of a neighborhood, and is perfect for preschoolers and toddlers.
There isn’t a parking lot, but there is some street parking. A gated path leads you right up to the play area. We visited on a Friday morning and were the only ones there. Right next to the playground is a spacious grassy field, and there is a conservation land entrance at the edge of the park where you can walk and explore a small patch of woods. It isn’t a long hiking trail, just a shortcut path, so it’s good for little ones who want to explore nature without the long walk.
The main structure is perfectly sized for littler ones and has a double racing slide and a chain ladder climber. It has entertaining details like musical chimes, interactive gear panels, and a solar system wall. Underneath the structure is a circular cutout to climb through and a pretend drive-through window.
The swing set has both regular swings and baby swings, plus there are a couple of spring ride-on toys.
There is a unique colorful handprint picnic table and a bench, but we chose to sit on the grass. The field had just been mowed right as we arrived, and we ended up finding two frogs hiding in the grass while we were playing, which my five-year-old son was very excited about!
If you’re looking for a calm spot for the kiddos under five phase, Justin Park is well worth a visit. Between the age-appropriate equipment, the quiet neighborhood, the nearby woods, and the open space, it was a laid back but fun visit, and we will definitely be visiting again soon.
