Sometimes the only way to beat the heat is to find a cool swimming spot and spend the day splashing in the water. Here's our list of local beaches, pools and spray parks. Some are a little outside this area but worth the drive!

25 Ledge Rock Way, Acton, MA
The beach at NARA Park, the Nathaniel Allen Recreation Area, is open to both Acton residents and non-residents from Memorial Day weekend through August 28, daily 9 AM to 7 PM. Beach-goers can drop in for a daily-use fee or purchase a beach membership pass. Residents (age 2+): $6, non-residents (ages 2-11): $8, (ages 12+): $10. A lifeguard is on duty during hours of operation. Lakeside park featuring a beach with seasonal swimming, an amphitheater, sports courts & fields. Paddleboats and canoes can be rented.

Lussiano Park Spray Pool
North Union Street, Arlington, MA
The spray pool is located at Lussiano Park next to Thompson School on North Union Street and is open and free to the public. The spray pool will be open daily, weather permitting. Note that bathroom facilities are not available.

The Reservoir Beach area includes a filtered & chlorinated swimming area, bathhouse with restrooms, concession stand and playground. It is open 10 AM to 7 PM until August 21. The beach is staffed by certified lifeguards. Residents and non-residents can purchase a beach tag for the season, or pay a $5 per person daily fee.

181 Springs Rd, Bedford MA
Open weekdays only from 10:30 to 7:30, Springs Brook Park is a man-made, filtered swimming “pond” with a beach, water slide, and splash park set back in a beautiful wooded setting. Restrooms, snack shack, picnic tables, playground and volleyball court available. Springs Brook Park is smoke-free; smoking is not permitted anywhere in the park or in the parking lot. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Daily admission $7/person age 1 and up. Max. $25/family rate. $5/person after 4:30 pm and free after 6:00 pm. Resident and non-resident season memberships available.

There are many fun water features at this free spray deck, managed by the MA Department of Conservation & Recreation. There's a playground, picnic area, restrooms, stream, street parking as well as a parking lot.

This playground has a sprinkler system operating on a periodic basis.
915 Walden St, Concord, MA
A popular swimming destination with hiking trails that ring the pond, the park opens at 5 AM and closes one half hour before sunset. Visitors are welcome to swim, picnic, hike, use canoes and rowboats and fish. Daily Parking Fee: $8 MA Vehicle, $10 non-MA Vehicle, parking is only permitted in the large lot off Rte. 126.
LEXINGTON
80 Worthen Rd, Lexington, MA
Outdoor pool is open for public swim weekdays 12:45-4:30 PM and 7-8:45 PM for members only. Resident and non-resident season memberships available starting in March. Non-resident memberships sell out very quickly and are sold out for 2015. Swim lessons and swim team available for members.
458 Marrett Rd, Lexington, MA
A fresh water pond with a sandy beach. Open daily 10:30 AM to 7 PM until August 16. Resident and non-resident season memberships available in March (non-resident members are sold out for 2015). Day passes are available: $5 per person for residents ($20 family max), $6 per person non-resident ($24 family max).
LINCOLN
16 Lincoln Rd, Lincoln, MA
Open Mon-Sat 12:30-8 PM and Sun 12:30-6:30 PM until August 7. From August 8-30, open Sun-Wed 12:30-6:30 PM, Thurs-Sat 12:30-7:30 PM. Lincoln residents can pay a daily fee ($10 age 3+) or purchase a season membership. Non-residents may purchase a non-resident membership, available on a limited basis, and are not eligible to pay for daily fee admission. Swim lessons available.
WALTHAM

Plympton Elementary School's outdoor play area and available to the public. Neighborhood park includes children's play structure, basketball court, youth athletic field for baseball/softball, and water spray facility.
