Master Parks, a 4th degree Black Belt, has been studying Taekwondo since age 9 with Master Alberto Montrond, a World Champion, three-time US Champion and owner of Boston Tae Kwon Do Academy. Parks earned his black belt at age 16 and worked part-time at the Academy during high school, returning as a full-time instructor after earning a business degree at Framingham State University. In 2008, he became the Head Instructor. When Master Montrond returned from semi-retirement in 2012, Parks knew it was the right time to establish his own school and knew just the right community – Westford. He is extremely pleased with the very warm reception he has received and how involved and caring the local community is. “Word of mouth has been amazing. A student will try a class, and soon his sister and brother have joined us, and neighbors and friends too. I have students at all levels and ages from Westford, Littleton, Groton, Acton, Carlisle and Chelmsford.”
One of Parks’ greatest joys in teaching is seeing students build their self-confidence. “I was deeply inspired by my teacher when I was young, and his lessons have guided me. When I teach, my goal is to build a personal connection with each student and help them learn the tools to approach life in a healthy and positive way. Seeing my students grow and achieve their personal goals is incredibly rewarding.” And it is clear, when watching a class, that his students, no matter what age, grasp his dedication and respond by listening, learning and trying their best.
Achieve Taekwondo is located at 364 Littleton Rd (Route 110) in Westford, next to BB Kidz Klub indoor play center and just down the road from Kimball Farm. Little Dragons classes (age 3.5 to 6) are twice a week (Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays) at 4:15. Beginner and Intermediate children’s classes for ages 7 to 12 are offered at various times from 3:30 to 5:30 Monday through Thursday, and a beginner Teens class is offered at 6:15 PM. Adult classes are offered at 12 and 7 PM Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Additional classes are offered on Saturdays.
