Not sure what to do with piles of extra or unwanted Halloween candy from trick-or-treat? There are lots of organizations looking for candy donations that not only keep candy consumption levels reasonable, but also support great causes. Schools, churches and local businesses may be collecting candy donations for charitable efforts, while nursing homes and shelters may be looking for sweet treats to share with residents to brighten their day.
You may also consider Operation Gratitude which collects and donates Halloween candy to the troops. Candy should be shipped no later than November 15th. Shipping instructions and details can be found HERE.
Check out the 2015 Halloween Candy Buyback program that supports Operation Gratitude. Local dental offices “buy” candy from children after Halloween in exchange for money, toothbrushes, and/or fun prizes and send it in care packages to troops overseas. More and more offices register everyday, so be sure to keep checking the official website.

Dr. Rosenberg's program is not part of the official Halloween Candy Buyback site; instead, soldiers from Hanscom Air Force Base pick up the candy, along with toothbrushes, toothpaste and other supplies, and ship them directly overseas. Last year, Dr. Rosenberg collected 2,800 pounds of candy!
