Avoid a Pumpkin Carving Disaster, Become a Pumpkin Master

Each year I look forward to taking my kids to pick out the perfect pumpkins to carve for Halloween.  It’s a tradition that my family loves and at the end of the summer I’m counting down the days until the pumpkin patches open their gates.

When we get our pumpkins home is when the real fun begins!  I like to pick up a few Pumpkin Masters carving kits for the family to use when carving our pumpkins.  Each kit has all you need to become a pumpkin carving master.  The sturdy tools are helpful when scooping out all of that icky pumpkin goo and the safety knives are great for precision cutting.  My favorite part of the kit is the booklet that includes a wide variety of design patterns to choose from.

I typically choose a classic bat or cat design, but my kids like a challenge and usually go for the more intricate designs.  It’s nice because each pattern has a “mastery level” rating that ranges from one pumpkin (easy) to four pumpkins (challenging.)  Also, the handy Pumpkin Masters lights are a super safe alternative to using a candle to illuminate our carved creations.

It’s so much fun to get creative and the end result is a truly amazing-looking pumpkin.  Another simple DIY project is to use your carved pumpkins as planters to decorate the house for Halloween.  Take a look at how easy it was for my daughter to carve an adorable ghost into her pumpkin!
