ActonArt Drawing School

March 9, 2017

ActonArt Drawing School offers regular drawing classes and fine art instruction throughout the academic year and summer session classes and workshops. Descriptions are available for all classes and workshops on our web site, www.actonart.com.

Our summer programs are divided into two separate components as follows.

Weekly drawing classes similar to our regular trimester classes are offered for all age ranges. Classes typically run during the late afternoon or early evening weeknights. Classes include specialty subjects such as Manga drawing, Portraiture, Figure Drawing, Oil Painting, and more. All classes designed for young students feature subject matter that is chosen specifically for it's interest to those students. We avoid gender specific projects (dolls for girls, tanks for boys) and favor topics that stimulate natural curiosity among young people in general. Summer classes typically are less demanding and more fun oriented since kids need to relax as well. Everyone still learns a lot, but we try to avoid overtaxing anyone.

The second half of our summer program is called Studioworks. These are 4-Day, Half-Day workshops that combine fine art and more craft oriented projects over a period of days. Many of these projects take days to complete. This helps prevent "art fatigue" and improves the quality of student results since they don't have to rush to complete projects in one day. Studioworks programs are divided into two age groups, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12 years. This groups students with similar skill levels together and allows projects to be challenging but still fun for everyone. Studioworks projects are much more "hands-on" and involve a good deal of 3D artwork too. Additionally ActonArt offers workshops for older students who are looking for more sophisticated content. Workshops typically include Sculpting, Painting, Manga Drawing, Watercolor, Cartooning and much more.

Details and descriptions of all summer program classes and workshops can be found on our web site, www.actonart.com. Summer schedules are typically posted no later than April 15th.
