Beginner Lessons, Classes, and New Programs

Sample a variety of new and ongoing early childhood, beginner, youth, and teen programs. Toddlers and parents will enjoy newly expanded Early Childhood offerings, including the popular Music for Aardvarks classes for ages 1-4. New Songs in Motion Jr (Ages 3-4) and Drum Buddies (Ages 4-6) classes are a fun and lively way for preschoolers and kindergarteners to learn music, movement, and rhythm basics. Ages 5 – 7 can feel the joy of making music through singing, dancing, and simple instrument play in a Songs in Motion class. Ages 5 – 9 can try friendly Group Beginner Lessons in piano, violin, guitar, ukulele, drums, or pre-flute fife.

The music school will also unveil a new Suzuki Program for Violin or Guitar – a highly effective parent-child approach to learning to play an instrument for ages 4-6. Older kids and teens can try their hand at performance-based classes and ensembles, like Kids’ Musical Revue for young singer-actors, a wind ensemble for intermediate wind players, and Intergenerational Flute Choir, for all ages.

Hands-On Instrument Exploration

Those who are interested in exploring private lessons will have the chance to try a large variety of instruments, meet instructors from all departments, ask questions, and register for lessons.

“We are excited to be able to offer so many opportunities for kids and teens in our community to learn and play all kinds of music,” said Pete Robbins, Indian Hill’s Director of Education. “Our students receive free admission to professional concerts by the Orchestra of Indian Hill and faculty performing artists, as well as free performance workshops, music lectures, and masterclasses with esteemed guest musicians. Our goal is to find the best instrument and teacher-student match for each individual, and to provide a wide variety of learning and performing experiences for a complete music education.”
