Bedford Montessori School has been providing quality education to children in Bedford and the surrounding towns since 1984. We provide a friendly, caring and creative learning environment for children starting at age 18 months and continuing until the end of their Kindergarten year. Our classrooms are traditional mixed-age Montessori classrooms with the emphasis on encouraging children to become independent, active learners who are pursuing their own interests while supported by certified Montessori teachers.
Our curriculum is based on the philosophy and work of Dr. Maria Montessori, and our classrooms provide a wide range of activities in Language, Math, Sensorial, Everyday Living, Science, & Geography. Children can work at their own speed and at their own level of ability while learning to participate as a member of a classroom community.
The classrooms are equipped with Montessori materials, which encourage active exploration and self-education. Our beautiful, bright, sunlit classrooms are set up with the child in mind: attractive materials are easily accessible to the child, the classrooms are equipped with child-size furniture, and the children can also enjoy spacious outdoor play areas.
Our teaching staff are caring professionals, dedicated to providing a stimulating environment for the children in our care. The Montessori philosophy allows the children to develop a sense of order, an ability to concentrate, and the coordination required to handle materials with increased skill. The activities in the classrooms are laid out in sequence and progress from concrete to abstract and from simple to more complex. In all classrooms, the children learn to make their own work choices, yet they also receive individual lessons from the teachers, based on their level of development. Our goal is to enable children to develop to their full potential during their time with us.
