The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord has launched Earth Day 3050, a special virtual program to help commemorate both the 30th anniversary of Musketaquid Earth Day celebrations and the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. While Musketaquid's annual Earth Day celebration will not be taking place this year, they have developed special water-focused activities that families can do at home or outside to celebrate, learn and create with water.
Activities include crafts, researching your local watershed, creating and recording in journal, learning about local water habitats and much more. Thirty different activities will be posted at https://theumbrellaarts.org/program/em3050-30-activities-50-days over 50 days, so be sure to check back every week to learn about and start the new activities that have been posted.
Activities already posted include:
- Create a journal from a paper shopping bag and record your nature observations in it throughout the 50 days
- Learn about watersheds and map your local bodies of water
- Learn how bird nests are built and make your own nest
- Learn about wetlands and play Wetlands BINGO
- Understand what a river steward is
- Make a rainstick
- Make a mini birch bark canoe
Creative and curious kids will enjoy trying the new activities as they get posted!
