NIKE Flag Football is Coming to Concord Academy This Summer!

May 3, 2021

IT’S SAID, “PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.”

This summer our experienced NIKE staff members will be there to help YOU raise the bar on your game. NIKE Flag Football Camps at Concord Academy will be led by Camp Director Scott McCartney for young athletes in grades 2–7. Each camper, no matter their experience level, will learn the fundamentals to develop their skills and use proper techniques.

Daily camp activities will focus on general offensive and defensive drills, passing the ball, receiving the ball, taking hands off, how to snap the ball, running routes and pulling flags. Beyond these skills, we will help campers learn footwork, team play, proper stretching, and warm-ups.

At the core of our program, there are three very important learnings coaches build on:

Speed and Agility

We have found when working with young athletes, simple coordination and movement drills can dramatically improve their overall skills and directly impact the sport being played.  When properly designed and supervised, youth speed training is an ideal complement to sport-specific skill development, regardless of age or gender and is easily implemented in either an individual or group setting. Although form and function may be similar, our coaches assure the intensity level of the exercises will be appropriate for the degree of physical and psychological maturity of each individual athlete.

Nutrition and Hydration

Together with drills, our coaches educate young athletes on healthy habits to help them feel and perform well during activity. Campers are educated on nutrition and encouraged to bring snacks and balanced meals to eat before and after sports activities to help them maintain appropriate growth and fuel their working muscles.

Positive Feedback

Lastly, all staff of NIKE Flag Football Camp are encouraging and supportive. They use proven tools to communicate with young athletes to avoid frustration and nurture positive, confident players.

Ensuring young athletes have the right equipment is key to them having a good experience. Ill-fitted gear can set a player up for frustration, failure, and even injury. The camp will provide each camper with a football, flag football belt, jersey, bag, training manual and rule book to get them started in the game.

Camp is conducted at Concord Academy, 166 Main Street, Concord, MA.

Hours are 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Monday–Thursday and 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. on Friday.

Campers will be divided into three groups based on grade, 2–3, 4–5 and 6–7.

Throughout the week, daily games are held, and players are evaluated based on the skills they learned earlier in the day. On Thursday, teams are created to play in our FRIDAY CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT! This is a round robin event.

Camp provides a great opportunity for any young athlete looking to improve their game, have fun, make new friends, and raise their confidence.

SECURE YOUR SPOT!

Due to local and state regulations, we anticipate having to reduce our enrollment numbers significantly this year. You can expect a high demand on these first-come-first-serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

Covid Safety Practices are put in place. We have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital. This is a no-contact sport with low camper to coach ratio.

Campers are required to bring their own lunch. The only clothing requirement is football shoes (NO metal-tip cleats), tennis shoes, athletic shorts, and a t-shirt.
