Free admission for up to six people with active duty military ID this summer

May 13, 2021

[ACTON, MA] – Discovery Museum has joined museums nationwide in participating in Blue Star Museums this summer, a program that provides free admission to our nation’s active duty military personnel and their families. The program will run from Armed Forces Day, May 15, 2021, through Labor Day, September 6, 2021.

“We’re proud to participate in Blue Star Museums each summer, and expand our Active Duty Military discount to include up to six family members,” said Discovery Museum CEO Neil Gordon. “It’s one small way to show our gratitude for the service and commitment of our active duty military and the sacrifice of their families.” For the rest of the year, the Museum offers free admission for up to four active duty military family members.

Blue Star Museums is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums nationwide. This year’s participating organizations include fine art, science, history, and children’s museums, as well as zoos, aquariums, gardens, and more. Find the list of participating museums at https://www.arts.gov/blue-star-museum-map.

The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.

Note that all visitors, even members and others receiving free admission, MUST reserve timed tickets in advance.  Please visit https://www.discoveryacton.org/plan-your-visit to book your timed tickets.  Members can reserve 14 days in advance; non-members can reserve up to 10 days in advance.  When you arrive, present your active military ID when payment is requested.
