7 Things To Do In October With Kids in Acton-Concord-Bedford-Lexington

By Macaroni KID September 27, 2022

October ... just the word brings to mind beautiful fall leaves, cool nights, apples, fall celebrations, and pumpkins! But that's not all! Did you know Taco Day is in October too? Turns out there's so much to celebrate and do this month in Acton-Concord-Bedford-Lexington. Here are seven ideas on how to celebrate the month of October in Acton-Concord-Bedford-Lexington with your kids

1. Crunch into tacos

Oct. 4

Celebrate Taco Day with a visit to Bueno Y Sano in Acton!

2. Get lost in a maze

'Tis the season for willingly entering a field of corn ... and then trying to find your way out. Good luck! Here is where to find corn mazes in the area:

  • Honey Pot Hill Orchard offers and large and small hedge maze and farm animals. While your there pick-your-own apples.
  • Schartner Farms in Bolton offers a corn maze, apple orchard, animal viewing area, farm stand and pumpkins.

3. Suck up some noodles

Oct. 6

It's National Noodle Day on Oct. 6, a day we love (for obvious reasons!) here at Macaroni KID. My families favorite is Smack Noodle in Maynard. I've tried Pad Thai all over town and they have my favorite!

4. Pick apples

Oct. 21

Head to one of the many farms around the region to pick your own apples on Oct. 21, which is National Apple Day. Picking apples is always a favorite thing to do with our kids ... plus the picture opps can't be beat! See our Regional Apple Orchard Guide for farms offering pick-your-own apples.

5. Make a difference

Oct. 22

Make a Difference Day is Oct. 22! It's a great time to find a place in Acton-Concord-Bedford-Lexington where you can volunteer with your kids. Local Food Banks are always a wonderful option. Check with your nearest food bank or pantry, they often have volunteer opportunities for all ages and abilities. Or offer your children the chance to host a food drive!

6. Find fall leaves

Want to know when to go out leaf peeping? Check out this very cool Fall Foliage Prediction Map from SmokyMountains.com, which shows when fall leaves are expected to peak around the United States! Simply move the slider at the bottom of the map to get an idea when leaves will be at peak colors in Massachusetts.
