Join Local Authors for Storytimes, Crafts & Free Fun on October 19

The "Pages of Possibility" children's event benefits Communities United, Inc.

October 8, 2024

Join Communities United, Inc. for our FREE community event on October 19 focused on children’s literacy, and hear some local authors share their stories! Programs include literacy themed Arts & Crafts, fun giveaways and raffles, and story-times with Literary Luminaries Elizabeth Suneby, Brooke Bourgeois, and Shana Gozansky.

Elizabeth Suneby is a local writer and author. Her award winning titles include board books for babies, picture books for children, and nonfiction for teens. Elizabeth loves hosting interactive readings and workshops with children of all ages, using her books as springboards to explore important topics ranging from gratitude, kindness, education for all children worldwide, to sustainability.

Brooke Bourgeois is a cartoonist and illustrator based in New York City. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, she first moved to the UK for a post-graduate fellowship in storytelling and comedy after she graduated from Harvard with a degree in neurobiology. Brooke is primarily driven to record instances of humor and surprise, and her cartooning work has been published in The New Yorker, Private Eye, The Harvard Lampoon, and The Drift. Having recently completed her MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, Brooke's children’s books are heavily influenced by cartoons and animation, and her greatest hope is that her pictures and stories can make people laugh.

Shana Gozansky writes children's books and directs plays. She has written Phaidon's My Art Book series, selected as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things 2023, and co-authored RISE x Penguin Workshop's How To Be a Witch with Gabrielle Balkan. She lives in Watertown, Massachusetts with her husband, tween, and a dog that looks like a cow named Miss Piggy.
