Communities United, Inc. is a Head Start funded nonprofit with over 50 years experience that offers free preschool and family services to qualifying families. While CUI serves children from the full socio-economic spectrum, our focus is on identifying the most at-risk families and ensuring that their needs are met. The majority of children that CUI serves are living at or below the federal poverty level. We provide comprehensive services in education, social services, health, and parenting, in hopes of empowering members of our communities.
From the moment a child starts in our program, we focus on building language and literacy. In addition to literacy support, our curriculum is designed around science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), the creative arts, and daily music and movement activities. Families are encouraged to get involved in the classrooms through frequent family engagement activities. Our goal is to encourage parents to see themselves as lifelong learners, just like their children.
