Tucked away in a cozy space close to home, Rosebud & Jo is more than just a children’s boutique—it’s a labor of love brought to life by Kaitlyn Lauf, a local mom of two and former early childhood educator. After a whirlwind few years that included a pandemic, becoming a mom (twice), and navigating major life changes—including the loss of her own mother—Kaitlyn found herself reevaluating everything. “I just thought—what’s the worst that could happen?” she says. “Life is too short not to go for it.”
With no retail background but a deep understanding of what families need thanks to her career in early education and being a mom herself, Kaitlyn opened Rosebud & Jo to offer parents something personal: a welcoming space, thoughtfully chosen products, and a sense of community.

The shop carries clothing and gifts for babies and young kids (mostly up to age 6, with some sizes up to 8 for girls). You’ll find lots of women-owned and New England-based brands, and yes, she product-tests many items with her own kids. “It’s all tried and true,” Kaitlyn laughs. “I’ll tell you if it shrinks in the dryer.”

But Rosebud & Jo is more than adorable onesies and birthday gifts. Kaitlyn has hosted everything from mom-and-baby yoga to sensory playdates, mini photo shoots, and even acupuncture sessions for moms. Her goal? To make the shop a hub for connection—where moms can swing by for a chat, find a thoughtful gift, or meet other parents.
Though the retail learning curve has been steep, Kaitlyn’s passion shows in every shelf and detail. Her next steps include growing her mom-and-baby group, fine-tuning product lines, and continuing to build that sense of community that keeps people coming back.
