Lexington is home to a ton of great parks. My family and I just discovered Garfield Park and have added it to our favorites list.

There isn’t a parking lot, but there is some street parking. The playground itself has a nature theme with wood log steppers and a giant faux rock right in the middle for kids to climb on.

The equipment is modern, and the main structure has fun details like a steering wheel and a periscope, plus educational aspects like a Braille panel that teaches kids the alphabet.

The swing set has both regular swings and baby swings, and there are a couple of plastic animal rockers and a seesaw.

There is a toddler-sized picnic table, regular picnic tables, and benches. My kids are big readers, so we were happy to find a Little Free Library here and ended up getting a couple of new books, which was a nice bonus!

The park also has a bike rack as well as an information kiosk marking the start of a walking trail. The entrance leads to the Dunback Meadow Conservation Area and the Meagherville Loop, which is an easy 1.5-mile loop walk. The easy access to a nature walk and playtime at the park made for a fun visit.
