ActonArt is a drawing and fine-art education studio for children, teens and adults. Founded in 2003, ActonArt has now, nearly 20 years later, provided instruction to over 12,000 students. Many of them started out as five year-olds and attended classes continuously through high school. Hundreds of them have now completed art and related college programs and embarked on their own careers as artists, designers, architects and more. Whether they are committed "art kids" or children who simply enjoy making art, drawing is a life-skill that can enrich everyone's life for all the years to come.
Our weekly classes are designed to teach students foundation concepts, techniques, problem solving and creative thinking. Most classes are instructor-guided and provide demonstrations and one-on-one support when needed. Most importantly, ActonArt provides a safe environment where students are not critiqued, nor is criticism allowed. We encourage independent and creative thinking and try to always leave room for students to personally connect with projects. Our curriculum is designed to accommodate students at their level of ability, from youth to elders, and still move them forward as they build skills and knowledge.
Today we offer classes ranging from beginner through intermediate and advanced levels. We offer in person and online classes and even have special daytime classes for adults and homeschooled children. We teach both drawing and painting mediums, ranging from animals, still life, and portrait to cartooning and manga. And in nearly all cases we design our classes so supplies are included. Students and families do not have to purchase expensive materials only to try a class.

Business Review
"My son took classes at Acton Art for 9 years, until he went away to university where he is studying to complete a BFA in visual arts. His art education at Acton Art was top notch. The teachers are fantastic. The projects are engaging and the methods used for teaching how to draw are effective. My son loved his teachers and felt valued and respected as a student. Now I am taking classes at Acton Art, and my experience as an adult has been just as wonderful as my son's experience was. I feel so lucky to have access to such a high caliber art school, where the teachers so clearly enjoy sharing the joy of learning to create art with their students." Sheryl I, Concord, MA
"My nine-year-old daughter has been going to ActonArt for over four years and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's well worth the drive from Cambridge, and judging from the number of other folks who come from as far away, many agree. Whenever we have to miss a week due to illness or vacation, my daughter is more sad about missing art than anything else." Karin L. Cambridge, MA
"My 13 year old son has been taking classes at ActonArt for almost 2 years now. He just loves it. The faculty has done an outstanding job at teaching technique and skill, while at the same time making the class fun. They have been terrific at nurturing his interests and skills and making him feel that ActonArt is a comfortable place to grow, learn, and take chances at trying new things. At the end of the year, the Student Art Show gives the kids an opportunity to display their work and provides them with a wonderful sense of accomplishment. The most recent addition to my son's list of classes has been Introduction to Sculpting which he has really enjoyed. He will definitely be back for more in September." Janet C., Acton, MA
