Mel Peirce is a local Certified Coach, Speaker, Parenting Expert, and Long-Time Working Mom. Mel runs a private coaching practice, local parent workshops, and the Confident Parent Club group coaching program. She also writes a weekly column supporting a number of local Macaroni Kid communities. Mel specializes in helping parents learn how to support their children emotionally and teach them about feelings.
Most parents that work with Mel were raised by previous generations that didn’t talk about feelings. Their parents and caregivers didn’t teach them how to manage their emotions or navigate through negative feelings because they didn’t know how themselves. This has left us with a generation of parents that don’t know how to emotionally support their kids during a time when raising emotionally healthy kids has become harder, yet more important than ever before. Parents know this and they are feeling the pressure. Unfortunately, as parents' stress and anxiety levels rise, their ability to parent effectively falls.
Parents need new and different tools to support their kids through today's challenges. A different parenting skill set is needed, one that most parents don’t know and one that is the opposite of most of the natural parenting instincts we learned growing up.
Mel has taken the latest research on how children’s brains develop, what drives their emotions, and how to best help them learn. She has combined this knowledge with the most effective coaching methods and developed new and simple tools to help parents confidently navigate through today's challenges and emotionally support their kids.
Mel is also a contributing writer for Macaroni KID. You can check out her series Mindful Parenting with Mel featured each week on our site and in the newsletter. “I have BIG feelings about Mel’s Big Feelings Workshop… and the feelings are AWESOME! As a mom of 2 wild and wonderful preschool boys I’m challenged daily physically and emotionally to be my best me while parenting them. There are plenty of meltdowns (mom included) and I often reflect later to think, I could do this better. Enter Mel and her workshop! I attended hoping for anything to help and was tearful with JOY to find that there are simple strategies I can try today to make a positive change. Her insights and the actionable steps she shares come from real experience, from her own learnings (spoiler alert: she admits she’s not perfect too). In less than 3 days trying her suggested approach I shifted our typical Big Feeling scenario in our home to be healthier and more positive. I feel more confident in my parenting. THANK YOU, Mel!"

To say that Mel has had a profound impact on my life would be an understatement. As a full-time working mom, I found myself struggling with balancing it all and was honestly burnt out from trying to be 'all the things to all the people'. Nothing was "wrong" but I knew that there was some untapped potential and a better way to navigate all the (beautiful but wild!) chaos around me. I would HIGHLY recommend Mel to help anyone who is looking to navigate a difficult situation or just to learn how to quiet the mental chatter and become a better version of themselves.
