A to Z Guide to February Vacation Fun

If February break will be a stay-cation for you this year, we have plenty of ideas for local family fun.  

Get out your calendar, gather the kids, and get a plan in place for the week.  Incorporate some indoor fun, some outdoor adventures, some yummy food, and some downtime too.

Need a February Vacation Camp for the kids? 

  • Groton Hill Music Center hosts their annual Vacation Arts Mashup Feb. 19 - 23 from 9AM - 4PM for ages 6-10. But hurry, spots fill quickly! 
  • Teamworks Acton offers February Vacation Program filled with a variety of activities and games Feb. 19 - 23 for ages 4-14.
  • Join our friends at Good Pickin' Farm for Snow Place Like Farm Camp! Feb. 20 - 23 from 9AM - 3PM (ages 3-13).

Next, here's an A to Z list of our favorite places for kid-friendly fun!

A - Art Signals Studio in Maynard has pottery painting and other creative projects ~ in-studio or take-home!

B - Bowling at Acton Bowladrome

C - Curious about witches?  Visit the Salem Witch Museum

D - Drive to the Museum of Science, New England Aquarium or Children's Museum in Boston

E - Enjoy chocolates and candies at Colonial Candies in Bolton.  It's worth the drive down 495 to visit this candy mansion!

F - Fall River is where you will find Battleship Cove, with fascinating ships to explore.

G - Good Pickin' Farm for winter farm fun! Join Morning of the Farm Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for a visit with the barnyard animals full of snuggles!

H - Head over to Discovery Museum in Acton for learning and fun all week.

I - Ice Skating at The Edge Sports Center in Bedford

J - Jumping fun at Altitude Trampoline Park in Billerica

K - Kids will love the Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum in Springfield.  Maybe spend the weekend and visit all of the Springfield Museums?

L - Love LEGOs?  Head to LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Somerville.  Book tickets in advance for 90-minute playtimes.

M - Make a fun craft at the new Hammer & Stain in Acton!

N - Need sports fun?  Teamworks in Acton has vacation week sports-focused programs for ages 4-14.

O - Old Sturbridge Village is open for a fun winter visit!

P - Put on your skis or snowboard and spend a day at Nashoba Valley or Wachusett Mountain

Q - Quality time at the library. Find great books to read or participate in a special library program.

R - Recipes!  If you have older kids, say 8 and up, plan a simple menu in advance that the kids can make for dinner.  Be sure to include a special dessert!  We have lots of great recipes on our site.

S - See a movie at AMC Burlington or O'Neil Cinemas.

T - Tubing at Nashoba Valley Tubing Park.  Plenty of snow!  Be sure to book tickets ahead.

U - Unplug and make something crafty.  See our many Crafts articles.

V - Visit Jam Time in Maynard for indoor play.

W - Wander through the sculptures at deCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln

X - eXtreme indoor fun at Apex Entertainment Marlborough

Y - Yarn, markers, beads, cake decorating -- stop by Michaels or Joann Fabrics for some craft supplies and get crafting!

Z - Zoos are fun, even in winter! Visit Animal Adventures Family Zoo & Rescue Center in Bolton or head to Franklin Park Zoo or Stone Zoo.
